Fashion is for everyBODY! That's why our apparel design students from the Department of Clothing, Textiles, and Interior Design have teamed up with several @alabamaadapted student-athletes to create custom apparel. ππ With a focus on functionality, the clothing includes features like adjusted hems, magnetic/velcro closures, and strategically placed pockets.

The Crimson Ride is a crucial part of our campus, and thanks to a $3 million grant from the Federal Transit Administration and the United States Department of Transportation, itβs set for a major upgrade. ππ UA is gearing up to develop driver assistance systems, bringing automated safety features typically found only in personal vehicles to mass transit, starting with the Crimson Ride!
Hereβs what you can expect β This initiative will focus on developing and testing four key functions: smooth acceleration and deceleration for fuel economy, pedestrian detection and emergency braking to avoid or mitigate collisions with pedestrians, precision docking and assisted driving on narrow roads.

Honoring a legacy of generosity! π The University of Alabama National Alumni Association is incredibly grateful to announce an $8 million gift from the estate of Bill Decas. Although he never attended UA, his passion for the Crimson Tide and admiration for Coach Paul βBearβ Bryant forged a deep bond with the university. This historic contribution marks the largest ever received by the NAA, enriching four in-state scholarships and establishing a fifth endowed scholarship for out-of-state students.

Civil engineering students are discovering how to confront chaos with construction in the classroom. πͺοΈπ‘Welcome to UAβs Debris Cannon Lab, home to the worldβs only quad-barrel cannon of itβs kind!
In class, students experiment with concrete mixtures engineered to withstand the impact of a 2x4 shot at 200 MPH. π€― Their mission? Understanding the role design plays in withstanding extreme events, like tornadoβs.
